Marley’s Story:
Marley was brought into the clinic by a young couple who were very distraught and at odds with themselves on the right thing to do. At only 5 months old, Marley had bitten their young child and they knew they couldn’t keep him. They went in search of rescue foundations, but nobody would take Marley under the circumstances. As a last resort, they brought him in to be euthanized.
After observing Marley and getting to know him, my colleagues and I felt strongly that if we could find the right home for Marley, we could save him from being put down. He wasn’t an aggressive dog, just not the right choice for a family with young kids. We told the family that if they were to surrender him to us, we would do everything we could to find him a forever home. Needless to say, they gladly took us up on our offer.
I put the word out to my animal loving network, and within a couple of days a family had stepped forward that was interested in adopting Marley. He was placed under quarantine for the specified amount of time, as directed by animal control, and then was given the go ahead to join his new family.
Now Marley enjoys life to the fullest with his Great Pyrenees companion, Keena, and their small herd of goats. He is a sweet, gentle giant that shows his appreciation by giving huge hugs and sloppy dog kisses. I am so happy we were able to place him in the right environment and he was given a 2nd chance at a happy life.
