Stanley is an adorable 15 week old Vizsla puppy that presented to the hospital for not eating and vomiting for a weeks duration. After having some abdominal radiographs taken it was apparent that Stanley had a life threatening gastrointestinal obstruction with a foreign object.

Sadly, this is a common problem in puppies as they are teething and often chew on things that they shouldn’t. His family loved him very much but was unable to provide the care he needed and surrendered him to the Junebug Foundation.

Stanley was very dehydrated and underweight, so he was immediately started on intravenous fluids and prepped for surgery. Turns out he had a bouncy ball stuck in his small intestine! It was successfully removed and he was stitched up.

Any surgery of the intestines carries big risk of complications and we all held our breath for the next few days. Thankfully he recovered without incident and maintained his very sweet and loving attitude through his recovery.

During his recovery a technician that was caring for him fell in love and took him home to foster and after a few short days fell so in love she adopted him!
